Tattoo Prices in Antalya: What Determines the Cost?
A transparent guide to tattoo pricing in Antalya: studio minimum, size, placement, detail, style, custom design, sessions, sleeves and cover-ups.

“How much does a tattoo cost?” is a fair question, but a useful answer needs more than a centimetre measurement. Two tattoos of the same size can require very different design time, precision, placement work and session length. Transparent pricing means explaining those differences before the appointment.
At Asil Argun Art & Tattoo Studio in Muratpaşa, Antalya, the normal studio minimum starts at 2,000 TL. The final quote depends on the design, size, placement and expected appointment scope.
1. Why do tattoo studios have a minimum price?
Every appointment requires preparation even when the tattoo is tiny. The station must be set up and protected, sterile single-use items prepared, the design and stencil checked, the skin prepared, the tattoo applied and the work area safely reset afterward. The minimum price reflects this complete appointment, not only the minutes when the needle touches the skin.
A lower-size design can also demand extremely careful line control. Small does not always mean simple, and fast does not always mean responsible.
2. How does size affect the price?
Size affects material use, stencil preparation, body positioning and application time, but it is not a complete formula. A simple 10 cm graphic shape and a detailed 10 cm portrait are different projects. When asking for a quote, give approximate width and height in centimetres and include a photograph of the body area.
The artist may recommend making the design slightly larger so fine elements remain readable and the composition sits naturally on the body. Reducing the design only to reduce the price can damage the result.
3. Does fine line or minimal always cost less?
Minimal work may use fewer elements, yet clean fine lines leave little room for error. Price depends on the number of lines, symmetry, lettering, tiny details, placement and whether the drawing is custom. A small flash-style symbol and a miniature high-detail illustration can require very different amounts of work.
4. Why can realism cost more?
Realism often requires research, tonal planning, smooth transitions and more application time. Portrait likeness, skin texture, hair, eyes, reflections and background all change the workload. The quality of the source photograph is also important; missing information cannot be solved by simply making the tattoo smaller.
For portrait or micro-realism requests, send the highest-quality original photograph available rather than a screenshot from social media.
5. Does body placement change the quote?
Yes. Flat, accessible areas and curved, moving or sensitive areas do not require the same positioning and technique. Ribs, hands, fingers, neck, joints and areas that stretch can demand additional planning. The design may need to be redrawn for the body’s flow instead of placed like a sticker.
A clear photograph of the location helps evaluate scale, existing tattoos, scars, curvature and access. Final placement is checked with the stencil before application.
6. Is custom design included in the price?
Pricing should reflect the agreed design scope. A simple adaptation and a completely original composition involving research, drawing and multiple connected elements are not the same service. Send a focused brief and two or three references, explaining what you like in each rather than asking for an exact copy.
Read the custom tattoo design process to understand how an idea is adjusted for placement, scale and personal meaning.
7. How are large pieces and sleeves priced?
A sleeve, full back or large leg composition is a project, not one oversized appointment. Design continuity, anatomy, existing tattoos, session length, healing intervals and the order of sections must be planned. The estimate may be structured by stage, session or an agreed project scope.
Ask what the first stage includes and how future sessions will be scheduled. A responsible plan gives you a realistic idea of both time and budget without promising that every body and design will progress at exactly the same speed.
8. Why do cover-ups and reworks need consultation?
A cover-up is constrained by the darkness, size, position and scar condition of the existing tattoo. The new design usually needs enough scale, contrast and direction to redirect attention. Not every image can cover every tattoo, and very light or tiny ideas may be technically unsuitable.
Send one close photograph and one wider photograph in neutral light. Depending on the old tattoo, the recommendation may be a larger design, selective reworking or discussing laser fading with an appropriate provider before tattooing.
9. Do color and black-and-grey have different costs?
Neither is automatically cheaper. Cost follows the design. Solid color saturation, multiple color transitions, detailed black-and-grey shading and large black areas all create different time and material needs. Skin tone, placement and the intended visual effect should guide the palette before price alone.
During the quote, state whether you want black, black-and-grey or color, and whether you are open to the artist’s recommendation.
10. What is included in a clear tattoo quote?
A useful quote identifies the design or concept, approximate size, placement, style and expected appointment scope. It should also state whether the amount is an exact project price or an estimate that may change if the design or scale changes. Ask about the booking method, rescheduling rules and accepted payment options before committing.
Never choose only by the lowest number. Review the artist’s relevant portfolio, communication and hygiene process. The US Food and Drug Administration warns that unsterile equipment and contaminated ink can create infection risks; safe working practices are not an optional extra.
11. How can I get an exact price quickly?
Send these five items in one message:
- A short description of the idea and desired style.
- Two or three visual references.
- Approximate width and height in centimetres.
- A clear photograph of the body placement.
- Your preferred date or date range.
This makes it possible to answer with a more accurate scope and availability instead of exchanging many incomplete messages.
