The Custom Tattoo Design Process
How an idea becomes an original tattoo composed for the body, placement and scale.

A custom tattoo is designed for one person and one placement. The process begins with the subject, approximate size and the part of the body where the work will live.
Composition for the body
The drawing responds to movement, muscle direction and the natural borders of the placement. A design that works on paper is adjusted so it also reads clearly on the body from different angles.
Before the appointment
Reference images can help communicate mood, but the final drawing is developed as an original composition. Sharing clear placement photographs and measurements makes the first design stage more precise.
